Welcome! Please tell us a few things about the creation of BLAX.
Hi all, we are BLAX band! Our adventure started in March 2020 when our singer and songwriter Giampaolo Polidoro, alias Blax, started to collaborate with our guitarist Marco Fanella, alias Hektor, for the recording of the first demotape which later became the music you can listen through our album “Meravilia” recorded during 2021. The BLAX project became a family in 2022 when the drummer Massimiliamo Bergo (alias Argex), the bass player Giulia Balestrieri (alias Katla), and the guitarist Emil Dellantonio (alias Hexen) joined the band.
What is the band’s discography?
So far, the first album called “Meravilia” was released in October 2022.
How do you call your music and what is your inspiration?
We think that the more appropriate way to call our music is “Hard Goth” as the gothic influences meet a hard rock inspired sound.
Our Brain Conditions is your new video. Tell us some things about the video.
The video clip of “Our Brain Conditions” is the exact representation of the BLAX family in terms of family members and living place. It was a great experience recording it, the entire staff was very involved in representing what was thought by BLAX.
Our Brain Conditions is included in the new album Meravilia. What does the name mean and what can the listener expect?
“Our Brain Conditions” is the more intimate song of the album since is the representation of what BLAX feels inside his brain, the listener can expect to slowly understand and have a look into BLAX reign though the sound and the song lyrics.
There is a gotich/alternative aura in your music. Which bands are your inspiration for Blax?
The inspiration for Blax music is represented by the 80s Hard Rock music, in particular figure like Alice Cooper has a significant influence on our music.
Do you have certain topics for your lyrics?
Starting from the fact that BLAX band represents a family where every musician is a member of it with a specific role, “Meravilia” represents the place where this family live, as you can image from the album cover. In detail, we have the family landlord Blax, followed by his trusted butler Hektor, his gardener Argex, the custodian Hexen and the housekeeper Katla. Our album is thought as a concept album as the songs are meant to tell the stories around BLAX family, so a central narrative is present in the album.
What is the music scene of your area like?
We are form Italy where the rock and metal scene is clearin’ up after dark years.
Do you play live shows often? Have you played abroad?
We love to play live! For the first part of this year we have some dates planned mainly in Rome and nearby, then starting from September to the end of 2023 we will play outside Italy like in Bulgaria and Czech Republic. We are very excited about it!
Tell us a few things about the band’s image.
The band has a theatrical gothic image, that was thought as the main image of the band to represent BLAX family where every musician is a member of it with a specific role. The gothic image is then reflected in the band sound.
What’s next for Blax? Will you release a new video from Meravilia soon?
Blax adventure will continue for sure playing as much as possible live in order to let people enter in our world/family and know our music. The release of a new video from Meravilia is an option. Meanwhile the composition process is going ahead.
