- Hello, and welcome to Rockallica! How did the collaboration between Wolfheart and Desert Near the End come about for your upcoming live performance?
-Hey ! For this particular show the idea cam from the promoter. In these kind of matter we trust the local promoters but it is not the first time we share stage with DNTE guys so it was very pleasant surprise that promoter wanted them to join us,
2. Tell us some things about your latest album. What can fans expect from your live show with Desert Near the End? Will you focus on the new album or also play older songs?
-Our previous album is a theme album about Finnish and nordic mythology and I wrote the music to fit as well as possible for that. Epic, heavy and majestic. When we come to Athens we will play songs from each album but naturally latest release will be underlined in the setlist.
3. How does playing live differ from recording in the studio for Wolfheart?
-The contract is huge. While writing and recording the music I am very isolated and focused. On the stage it is a mix of energy, adrenaline and chaos. I love them both but they are two completely different things.
4. Which of your songs are you most excited to perform live?
-I have certain favourites from each album. Hunt from the debut album, Zero Gravity from the 2nd etc etc. So the setlist is kind of my personal live top list also :). My all-time favourite is a song called Breakwater. Always gets the best mosh pits.
5. How has the reception been for this upcoming live from your fans in Greece and worldwide?
-We just did our first European headliner tour, then played in Finland. Now we are in Australia and after Athens we will do east europe/balkans tour so there is a lot to track for our fans but Athens has always been good for us and welcomed us well.
6. What are some of the challenges of preparing for a live performance?
-Nowdays very little. Only challenge is the uncertainty with travelling. Flight cancellations are more frequent than before. Europe and Finland have had a lot of strikes that affect airports lately too. And those kind of obstacles can be hard to go over because often those take place in very short notice.
7. How has the dynamic been between the members of Wolfheart and Desert Near the End? Are you guys friends?
-I have played with the guys before and they have a studio in Athens that I used when I was producing the 2nd album of Among Ruins. Really nice guys and will be great to share the stage again.
8. Are there any surprises or special moments planned for this show?
-It would not be a surprise if I tell it to you now 🙂
9. How do you feel that performing live with Desert Near the End will impact Wolfheart’s sound and performance style?
-I am sure both bands will do 100% their own thing no matter where we play or with. I think that is on a big factor in being a profession that you deliver your show in any conditions.
10. Can fans expect any new material or collaborations between Wolfheart and Desert Near the End in this particular live show or in the future?
-Our next album is already recorded and mixed so any possible collaborations would need to wait until few years ahead.
11. How does playing live inspire and influence your own music and performance style? Good luck in the live show and thank you for the interview!
-some of the songs I write mainly for live performances and others just for album tracks so playing live creates certain demand for songs that fit to the stage.
