How did you decide to create a death thrash metal band in Iraq? Hi
Actually at first time when we start to play music we was influenced by old school thrash albums like show no mercy kill ‘‘em all the big energy when u play electric guitar fast as you can but this is was just at the beginning you know thoughts will change when you explore more music more bands we decided to play middle eastern thrash death metal in our first album
Is it easy to play your music there? How people are aware of your music in your country? It’s not easy to play here we tried a lot since we are a band we played multiple show in Iraq different cities not that easy we you plan for metal show hard to find the place that fit with music so small metal fan base here so hard to make it grow up when there is no other extreme metal bands and also the community 90% not accept this type of music not accept the type of metal head or metal style
Do they connect your music with the religion? Our music is also connected with religion and politics corruption we are not that band talking about the fantasy our music is about the reality in our country
Is your music a way to escape from Iraq’s reality? Which bands affect your music? Our music is a message but you can’t escape from reality you have to face it Slayer, Lamb of god, Pentagram
Tell us a few things about your discography.
We don’t have a big discography we played multiple shows in Iraq we have an old ep called beta when we create DARK PHANTOM and NATION IF DOGS our first album our first show outside of country was Syria after ISIS war in 2019 IT’s was very good experience in our memory and now it’s time to plan for more shows out of Iraq cuz I don’t think we can play in Iraq maybe in the future because no asked us about show since 2019 and we don’t want to deactivate all what we did since more than decade
A few days ago, you played a show in Croatia. You are the first metal band from Iraq that played in Croatia. How do you manage to get into the GoatHell Festival?
Yes we are the first metal band played in Europe we were thinking of that after when we back from syria but it was not that easy to travel to Europe without any invitation or someone guarantee people from Middle East we are become friends with the organizer of goathell like a year I think Mr midic are super he did everything for bring us to goathell and also we don’t forget the Angels pr the promotion company from Greek for what they do for us the guys from goat hell they make the dream come true
How was your feeling for this appearance? What will you remember from this show?
The feeling are amazing even when we were in the plane we didn’t believe that we gonna play there all we remember we meet good people beautiful city amazing bands from different countries like we know each other’s since long time really metal is not just a music it’s a life. I hope we can see them again
The first step was set and Dark Phantom played in Europe. Which are your next steps? Any future plans? This is just the first and next stop is Berlin in peace core metal fest in September we are waiting our visa to blast it again
Is there any chance to see you in Greece?
Yes sure we have lot of friends and fans can’t wait to see them all
